Be More Buff

The sense in which I employ the term “buff” is not the traditional one. When I implore you to “be more buff”, I am not requesting that you endeavour to alter your physique. Instead, I am invoking my respect and reverence of the humble buffalo.

Buffalo or bison, whichever you prefer is fine with me. But I want you to picture a large, noble, wild cattle, roaming free under a limitless expanse of sky. With nothing to do that is not instructed by their nature. To walk when they have somewhere to go. To rest when their legs ache. To eat when they are hungry. Some say that a life well lived is one lived in accordance with one’s true nature. The buffalo does naught but this. Yet they are not individualistic. They are part of a whole. The strength of the buffalo is in the herd, yet the strength of the herd is also in the buffalo.

What It Means to Be More Buff

This is what it means to be more buff. To be more like the buffalo. To live healthily. To live as part of a community. To live at peace. To love. To low at the moon when the feeling takes you. To be awake.
